A Drew County jury has convicted Sabrina Anderson of felon in possession of a firearm, a Class B felony, following a November 2025 incident in Monticello.
The jury recommended a sentence of 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction, which was imposed by Circuit Judge Robert Gibson III. Due to her criminal history, Anderson will not be eligible for parole, according to court officials.
The conviction stems from an encounter on Nov. 6, 2025, when Monticello Police Officer Jaden Richardson observed Anderson attempting to hide upon seeing his patrol vehicle. After making contact, Richardson determined Anderson was on active probation and subject to a search waiver.
When informed a search would be conducted, Anderson initially became upset and uncooperative before complying, authorities said.
During the search, Anderson admitted to possessing illegal drugs. Officers located a small amount of marijuana and a loaded North American Arms .22-caliber revolver containing five rounds of ammunition. Investigators later confirmed Anderson was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm.
She was taken into custody and transported to the Drew County Jail. Authorities noted Anderson had a prior felony conviction for arson in 2019, for which she was sentenced to 60 months in the Arkansas Department of Correction.
Officials said Anderson became combative during the booking process, removing her clothing in front of officers and staff and physically resisting as she was escorted to a cell. The Drew County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kelley Fortenberry commended the jury following the verdict.
“We appreciate the careful attention and service of the jury in this case,” Fortenberry said. “It is vital to the safety of our community that violent felons are kept from possessing firearms. This verdict sends a clear warning to other violent felons in Drew County that these crimes will be taken seriously and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
