The Drew County Sheriff’s Office announced several promotions this week as part of an effort to strengthen operations and continue improving service to the community.

Sheriff Tim Nichols said the promotions come after a period of reflection and evaluation within the department as it looks to build on progress made over the past three years.

“While the year is still early, we’ve been busy patrolling Drew County and working to improve the service we provide to our citizens,” Nichols said in a statement. “To continue building on that vision, it was time to make some needed changes.”

As part of those changes, Deputy Tyler “Ty” Grant has been promoted to sergeant within the Criminal Investigations Division.

Patrol Sgt. Chris Austin was promoted to patrol lieutenant.

Criminal Investigations Lt. Rick Harvey was promoted to chief deputy.

Nichols said the promotions reflect the department’s commitment to leadership development and maintaining a high standard of public safety across Drew County.

The sheriff congratulated the newly promoted officers and thanked them for their continued dedication and service to the community.
