A man from Drew County is $350,000 richer after his favorite color led him to pick the winning lottery ticket.
According to Arkansas Scholarship Lottery officials, T. Austin claimed the top prize in the $350,000 Cash Payout instant game, a $20 scratch-off ticket. Austin stopped for gas when he decided on a whim to buy a ticket—not based on a particular game or retailer, but simply because he liked the color of the ticket. That color was blue.
As it turns out, blue was more than just a favorite—it was lucky. Austin scratched the ticket while still in the store and quickly discovered he had won the $350,000 grand prize.
He claimed his winnings on Friday, June 13, at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center. Officials noted that Austin’s prize was the second-to-last grand prize available in the $350,000 Cash Payout game, meaning there is still one more big prize left to be claimed.
Austin shared that he plans to use the money to purchase land and animals, making his windfall not just a stroke of luck, but a step toward a new lifestyle.
