Former Cleveland County Justice of the Peace Don Triplett of New Edinburg has been selected to serve as Cleveland County judge through the end of 2026.
The Cleveland County Quorum Court voted Monday night to appoint Triplett to the position. He will serve through Dec. 31, 2026, filling the vacancy left by the late Jimmy Dale Adair.
Adair died Jan. 2 after previously being appointed to complete the unexpired term of former County Judge Jimmy Cummings, who also died while in office.
Triplett was one of three candidates considered by the quorum court. Kelly Slater of the Randall community and Rusty Leopard of the Rison area were also considered for the appointment.
Triplett was immediately sworn into office after the appointment.
Triplett served on the Cleveland County Quorum Court for 16 years, representing the New Edinburg area. He also brings more than 40 years of experience in the construction business, according to county officials.
