A Pine Bluff police officer arrested last week on a domestic battery charge has resigned from the department, according to records obtained by Deltaplex News through a Freedom of Information Act request.

The arrest stemmed from a domestic disturbance reported at approximately 9 p.m. on Dec. 11 at a residence in the 6200 block of West Womack Road, police records show.

According to an incident report, officers responded to the scene and made contact with a woman who reported that she and her boyfriend, identified as Damian Durham, had been involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical confrontation.

The woman told officers Durham pushed her and grabbed her by the neck, causing visible redness and bruising near her collarbone. She also reported she pushed Durham back and kicked him during the incident after he became physical with her. Police noted that the couple’s child fell from a bed to the floor during the altercation but was not injured.

Durham told officers that the argument became physical and admitted to throwing his vape device to the ground prior to the confrontation. He denied throwing it at the woman but acknowledged that both parties pushed each other. Officers documented visible bruising on the woman’s left collarbone area.

Durham was taken into custody without incident and transported to the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Detention Center, where he was booked on a charge of third-degree domestic battery. A victim rights advisement, commonly known as Laura’s Law, was provided at the scene after Durham was taken into custody, according to the report.

Following his arrest, Durham submitted his resignation from the Pine Bluff Police Department. The department confirmed his resignation to Deltaplex News.

The incident report and related documents were released in response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed by Deltaplex News. The case remains subject to the judicial process, and the charge has not yet been adjudicated in court.

As with all criminal cases, Durham is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
