A missing man with dementia from another state was located in Desha County on Monday evening following a traffic stop.
According to a press release Deputy Kerri Womack stopped a vehicle that was driving erratically Monday evening. As she approached the driver’s window she discovered an elderly gentlemen who was crying, and told her he was lost.
Deputy Womack quickly realized something was wrong.
Upon further investigation, and with the help of Telecommunicator Krystal Glover at Central Dispatch, Deputy Womack found that the subject was suffering from dementia, and his family was looking for him three hours away in another state.
While the family was enroute to pick him up, Deputy Austin Freeman secured his vehicle so that it would not have to be towed.
Both Deputies took the gentlemen to Hoots BBQ, to enjoy some fine local dinning, and after learning of the situation, owner Susie Powell would not allow them to pay.
The man was returned safely to his family once they arrived to pick him up.
