Even before she took office, First Ward Council Member LaTisha Brunson was talking about the need for a grocery store on the east side of the city.

That talk has increased after Super 1 Foods closed its store in the Broadmoor Shopping Center, and with her current job, she is increasing that focus.

Brunson said there will be a meeting July 29 to talk about food insecurity and housing, two problems that not only affect Pine Bluff but also the entire country.

Brunson appeared on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show where host Greg Horne noted that she mentioned people that can make changes and the group from Tulsa and asked if they were not interested in opening a store here anymore.

Horne said people talk about the need for housing downtown, saying “everybody it should be there and wants it to be there but nobody is stepping up and saying here’s the money to do it.”
