The Cleveland County School Board has voted to hire a construction manager who will supervise the building of the new gym at Rison High School.
According to the Cleveland County Herald, Superintendent Davy King said architect Steve Elliott will assemble information packets and will make those available to prospective managers.
King said the district will also advertise for the position for about three weeks, then the board will determine a group of finalists to interview.
Voters in the Cleveland County School District approved a 6-mill tax increase last October that will generate about $12 million in construction funds. The district will also use $2.7 million in partnership funds and King said he would like to see construction begin this summer but no definitive date has been set.
