At its most recent meeting, the Cleveland County Quorum Court heard reports on county-owned properties, including the solid waste transfer station and the elevator inside the courthouse.
According to the Cleveland County Herald, some of the coverings on the roll-off bins at the solid waste transfer station have coverings that do not work. An investigation by a committee of the justices found that the coverings had been ordered by the late County Judge Jimmy Dale Adair were offset and would not work on some of the contains.
Current Count Judge Don Triplett also expressed concern about the approaches to the bins by trucks picking them up and suggested putting concrete pads under the bins used for scrap metal and tires. He said the trucks were rooting out the ground as they approached the bins to pick them up.
Triplett estimated the costs of the slabs to be about $12,000 and the county has $23,000 available for the project. Financial help could also come from the Southeast Arkansas Regional Solid Waste Management District. Additionally, the county has about $42,000 in the recycling fund.
A motion to seek bids for the concrete pads and covers was approved without dissent.
