Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Cummings was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle accident near Kingsland, according to emergency services.

Cummings, who was serving his first term as county judge, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Republican Party of Arkansas released a statement expressing grief over the loss.
