The Cleveland County Quorum Court has approved a resolution declaring a Disaster Declaration as a result of the recent winer storm.
According to the Cleveland County Herald, Jamie Thompson, the administrative assistant in the county judge’s office said the decision to declare an emergency was made after consulting with the Cleveland County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Sarah Mitchell and County Road Department Foreman Ricky Hoke.
The disaster declaration puts the county in a better position to possibly receive state and federal aid to repair damages to county property, but the declaration does not guarantee the county will receive that funding.
There were no structural damages to county property but they anticipate wide-spread road damage but that damage would have to exceed what would be typical of :freeze and thaw” conditions.
