In response to dangerously cold temperatures, the City of Pine Bluff announced plans to open a warming center to help protect residents during the extreme winter weather.

In partnership with DePaul USA, the warming center will be located at Opportunity House, formerly the Old First Ward School, at 1305 E. Sixth Ave. The center is scheduled to open Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, and will operate from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. through Wednesday morning, Dec. 17, city officials said.

The warming center will provide a heated and secure indoor space, with sleeping accommodations available on a first-come, first-served basis, along with essential amenities for those seeking shelter from the cold.

The city said it will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates if there are changes to the warming center’s hours or operations.
