Plans for the expansion of the cafeteria at the Woodlawn School are continuing, according to district superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock.
According to the Cleveland County Herald, Hancock told members of the school board that he met with the architect designing the cafeteria last week and a survey of the area where the expansion is scheduled this week.
Hancock recommended and the board approved entering into an agreement with Stephens, Inc. to issue bonds to finance the project. They had previously approved a plan for bonds totaling $3.8 million to be issued which would cover costs associated with the cafeteria and a new career center.
That career center has been put on hold until the district can receive partnership money from the state. Hancock’s recommendation was for $1.6 million to restructure the district’s existing bonds and provide financing for the cafeteria project.
