Eligible tax-exempt items include many articles of clothing, school supplies, instructional materials, art supplies and certain electronic devices commonly used by students, such as computers, tablets and calculators. The exemption also applies to many office supplies and other qualifying items.

The Department of Finance and Administration noted that businesses can also benefit from the tax holiday by purchasing qualifying electronics and office equipment during the weekend.

Online purchases also qualify for the exemption, provided the order is placed on Aug. 1 or Aug. 2 and the items are shipped to an Arkansas address.
