Arkansas State Police Investigate Fatal Carlisle Shooting; Suspect in Custody

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in Carlisle after being requested by the Carlisle Police Department.

According to authorities, Carlisle police officers responded to a call of a shooting around November 2, 2025, in the 400 block of North Greenlaw Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Eric Roland, 37, of Searcy, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Witnesses at the scene identified Cyle Cooney, 40, of Carlisle, as the suspected shooter. Cooney reportedly fled the area in a white Dodge Ram truck.

A short time later, deputies with the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office located and apprehended Cooney at approximately 8:30 a.m. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lonoke County Detention Center.

Authorities said Cooney is being held on multiple charges, including First-Degree Murder, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle, and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons.

Roland’s body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the official cause and manner of death.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to Arkansas State Police.
