Arkansas Road Crews Battle Slow Progress After Second Winter Storm

The work of clearing state and federal highways is slow-going and is getting very little help from Mother Nature. Dave Parker, Public Information Officer with the Arkansas Department of Transportation says they had a single lane cleared on most interstates and highways on Saturday – but when a second round of largely unexpected precipitation came late Saturday and early Sunday, that effort was wiped out.

ARDOT reported late Sunday that they had made a lot of progress and that conditions are better. Some late afternoon sun allowed crews to get primary routes in good shape and allowed ARDOT to begin work on some secondary routes.
