The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) recently celebrated Homecoming with a series of events held across the city over several days. All festivities went smoothly, with no major incidents or crimes reported.
The success comes as city officials continue efforts to enhance public safety amid ongoing revitalization projects throughout Pine Bluff.
One organization playing a key role in those efforts is the Pine Bluff Advertising and Promotions Commission (A&P). A&P Director Sheri Storie spoke at the Pine Bluff Small Business Association luncheon and later told Deltaplex News she was pleased with how well this year’s Homecoming events went.
The City of Pine Bluff was recently awarded a $500,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) through the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) to support the Delta Rhythm & Bayous (DRB) Cultural District Pedestrian Trail initiative.
The funding will be used to construct new sidewalks around the heart of the Cultural District, enhancing connectivity with previously funded TAP projects and expanding pedestrian access throughout the area.
A&P Director Sheri Storie shared more details about how the grant will help move the project forward and strengthen the city’s revitalization efforts.
Grant funding represents the next major project that the A&P plans to undertake.
Funding is provided to select nonprofit organizations that host events throughout the city. Storie explained how nonprofits can apply for funding and outlined the review process that follows each application.
