Air Force Veteran and Educator Michael Turley Launches Bid for Jefferson County Judge

Former teacher and Air Force pilot Michael Turley has announced his intention to run for Jefferson County Judge in the March Democratic primary.

According to his campaign flyer, Turley spent 20 years in the Air Force, living in 14 time zones. As a teacher, he has worked for the Pine Bluff School District, Southeast Arkansas College, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and others.

Appearing on Talk Back Live with Floyd Donald. Turley was asked why he is running?

Donald mentioned Turley’s work in  leadership positions and asked him if he thought he could transfer that role to county government.

He also talked about what he could bring to the table in terms economic development, declining population and a declining tax base.

Pine Bluff is the subject of frequent stories from the Little Rock television stations, often focusing on its crime but Turley said things are not as bad as  they appear to be on television. He went on to say this.
