A $7,500 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff woman whose dogs reportedly attacked a man Feb. 26, resulting in the man’s death.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Crystal Mayo, 42, with manslaughter.
Reading from an affidavit by Detective Shaun Watson, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said at 6:35 a.m., police were sent to 2016 S. Oak St., in response to a report that a man had been shot.
Police located the man, later identified as Kenny Christopher lying face down but did not find any evidence that he had been shot. Christopher was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the initial investigation, police were able to locate video footage that was motion activated.
When Mayo was interviewed, she said when she got ready to go to work, she let the dogs in the house and said they had been outside overnight. She said she also noticed that a trash can had been knocked over.
Reed said she and an attorney from the Public Defender’s Office had agreed on the bond amount and Mayo was told to come back to court April 17.
Police were also seeking Mayo’s husband in connection with the incident.
