$50,000 Bond Set For Drew County Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase, Domestic Disturbance

A Wilmar man is facing multiple charges after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash and a foot pursuit on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

According to the Drew County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to an apartment complex on Highway 425 South after reports of a domestic disturbance involving gunfire. The University of Arkansas at Monticello Police Department also responded due to their proximity to the scene.

While en route, officers encountered a vehicle believed to be driven by a suspect connected to the incident. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver fled at high speeds, eventually crashing on Jordan Drive before fleeing on foot.

K-9 Aiko and his handler, Sgt. Austin, were called in to assist in the search. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Corey Sanders of Wilmar, was quickly located and apprehended by K-9 Aiko, Sgt. Austin, and Deputy Jaden Richardson.

Sanders has been charged with Felony Fleeing, Driving While Intoxicated, and Refusal to Submit to Test. He appeared before Judge Robert Gibson on September 8 for his first judicial appearance, where his bond was set at $50,000 commercial.
