A $10,000 bond was set Friday for a prior jailer at the Dub Brassell Detention Center who admitted having sexual contact with a female prisoner at the jail.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Keywand Harris, 20, with third-degree sexual assault.
Deputy Prosecutor Ty Spradlin said a sheriff’s investigator Clayton Cantrell received information that the defendant Harris, who was employed at the jail, was having contact with a female detainee.
Spradlin said Harris was questioned on Sept. 3 and after saying he understood his rights, told investigators he had had a prior sexual relationship with the detainee and had gone into her cell and kissed her. He also said he “never should have had contact with her.”
Harris has no prior felony convictions but has a pending felony charge in Pulaski County.
He was ordered to have no contact with the female and told to come back to court Oct. 10.
