The failure of the recent amendment to the Arkansas Constitution which would have legalized the recreational use of marijuana was a topic of discussion Tuesday when Lincoln County Judge Buddy Lynn Earnest appeared on the Oldies 1013 morning show.

Lincoln County currently has one legal grow facility which will pay taxes to the state and the county, and morning show host Greg Horne asked Earnest if the defeat of that amendment will affect the money his country receives.

Earnest went on to say that he does not know yet how much money the county will receive from the state.

He said the county has used he last of the money allocated to it form COVID relief, with those funds going to pay salaries for the sheriff’s department. He then talked about the overall budget for 2023.

The Lincoln County Quorum Court will approve the 2023 budget when they meet in December.
