An attempt to extend the five-eights cent sales tax commonly called the Go Forward tax for another seven years has failed twice in the past few months.

At the same time, voters also turned down an additional three-eights cent permanent tax that would be used for public safety.

On Thursday, Joni Alexander Robinson, a former member of the Pine Bluff City Council and candidate for Mayor was a guest on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show and voiced her opposition to what she called the “forever tax.”

She also talked about the so-called Penny for Progress tax and the hamburger tax.

Regarding a hotel at the convention center, Morning Show Host Greg Horne said the belief is that the presence of that hotel will lead to more events being brought to the convention center.
