Winter weather has hit Jefferson County hard over the past few days, and a blast of wintery precipitation in the overnight compounded to make matters worse than they have been the last couple of days.

Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson spoke with Deltaplex News on Thursday morning saying conditions in the county are “pretty bad”.

Robinson said his office has received reports of downed trees and power outages throughout the county, and they are expecting more to come.

He also said that if citizens find themselves needing shelter they can contact his office and they will go from there.

Robinson has worked with the Quorum Court to put forth legislation that will assist Jefferson County with emergency situations. He said that situations like this is why those pieces of legislation have been brought forth.
