Last year, Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson made the decision to impose a hiring freeze affecting all county offices except for law enforcement. He made the decision in an effort to reduce county spending, particularly since labor costs are the highest outlays from the budget.

When the policy was announced, Robinson took a lot of heat but stuck to his guns and now, a year later, he told Deltaplex News the freeze was being lifted.

Appearing on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Wednesday, Robinson went on to say this.

The judge also talked about the new Veteran’s Service office that has been opened, and the new health department and coroner’s office that will soon be open.

Robinson also talked about major renovations that have been made to the county courthouse.
