Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation Director Sam Glover has resigned his position, according to a letter from Glover.

That letter is as follows:

would like to thank you and the city of Pine Bluff for the distinct honor of being the leader of the Parks and Recreation Department for the city of Pine Bluff since 2018. It has been by pleasure to serve the community during your administration as we have accomplished so much in a short period of time. As I reflect on the work, I am reminded of the necessity of vision, partnerships and sacrifice it took to be a catalyst for positive change in the city through our parks system.

At the sunset of any opportunity it is instinctive to ponder on whether or not you have made a positive impact in the lives of those you have served and co-labored with. I believe wholeheartedly that the essence of the mission I set out to accomplish upon my hiring has been fulfilled. Under my leadership we have undertaken a multitude of tangible and visible beautification projects.

We have created a newfound excitement and expectation for Parks and Recreation. We have developed support and partnerships with organizations, citizens and businesses throughout the community as well as abroad.

The focus on the positive narrative associated with Pine Bluff and the image of our parks system has enhanced our position amongst our counterparts while planting seeds for a new culture of people near and far answe ring the call to “Come Play with Us”.

It is with this letter however; I will tender my resignation of my post as Director of Parks and Recreation. I am grateful to have been supported by the City of Pine Bluff and by the Honorable Mayor Shirley M. Washington in the fight to make Pine Bluff a better place to live with an improved quality of life.

Trusting God as I move forward to other things in life, I bid this chapter farewell and God Speed.

Sincerely,
Samuel Glover
Parks and Recreation, Director
