UPDATE 4:25 p.m.: The Sheridan School District has released the following statement regarding the fire alarm at Sheridan Intermediate School on Monday afternoon:

“An electrical short in a boys bathroom light switch at Sheridan Intermediate School resulted in a fire alarm activation and evacuation of students this afternoon. The incident was self contained, and no students nor employees were harmed.

The Sheridan Fire Department responded immediately to ensure safety for all, and electricians were on-site within minutes to repair the damaged switch.”

UPDATE 3:35 p.m.: Deltaplex News has been informed that a small electrical fire was located and is under control. All emergency personnel have now left the scene and students have been released.

No injuries have been reported in the incident.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Law enforcement and fire personnel from the Sheridan Police and Fire Departments have responded to what is being called a structure fire at Sheridan Intermediate School.

There is a heavy police, fire, and emergency personnel presence at the school.

Deltaplex News is told all students and faculty have evacuated safely from the building.
