The East End Volunteer Fire Department in Grant County has acquired  a fire truck that formerly was used at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, the 105-foot ladder truck, dubbed “Ladder One,” was completely refurbished and its purchase was made possible in part by an increase in fire dues.

Chief Darrel Feagen told the newspaper that East End is starting to grow and the ladder truck will not only help the department to continue to serve the communities needs as the population continues to grow but also help to satisfy some additional ISO requirements to hopefully improv our ratings.

Feagan said firefighters have been conducting training with the new truck since its arrival in October. The volunteers have been familiarizing themselves with the new truck that will go into service this year.
