The Jefferson County Road Department on Monday told elected officials and department heads they would have to stop getting gas at the road department.

A memo from Roads Director Rickey Bullard and Office Manager Sandra Graves said that because supplemental appropriations have not been voted on by the full Quorum Court, the other departments will not be able to fill up their county vehicles.

The memo went on to say that this may cause an inconvenience but the action is necessary because the road department has only about a 10-day supply of fuel and cannot buy more until the appropriation is passed.

The Quorum Court has not adopted any legislation in months because of disagreements between County Judge Gerald Robinson and some of the JP’s over procedures. Robinson has filed a lawsuit against those JP’s but the special judge assigned to the case has yet to act.
