A lawsuit has been filed against the 13 members of the Jefferson County Quorum Court alleging they have failed to perform their duties.

The suit was filed by Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson Friday and names each member of the County’s legislative body, Alfred Carroll, Reginald Adams, Reginald Johnson, Patricia Royal Johnson, Lloyd Franklin Jr., Margarette Williams, Melanie Johnson Dumas, Roy Agee, Cedric Jackson, Dr. Conley Byrd, Dany Holcomb, Ted Harden and Brenda Bishop Gaddy in their individual and official capacities.

The lawsuit asked a judge to order the Quorum Court to adopt a policies and procedures ordinance and to declare an ordinance adopted in June by seven members of the quorum court as unlawful and invalid.

Specifically, that ordinance was not read three times prior to a vote on it, approved or vetoed by the county judge within 7 days, published by the county clerk, and clearly violates state law by usurping the power granted the county judge,
