For the 26th year, the Black Pilots of America will make Grider Field their weekend home as Operation Skyhook kicks off Friday morning.

On Thursday, Ken Johnson, the general manager of Pine Bluff Wastewater Utility and a member of the organization was joined by another member, Hubert Luey of St. Louis on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show.

Johnson was asked what will be going on this weekend.

He went on to talk about one of the weekend highlights, members giving rides to young people, what BPA calls Young Eagle Rides.

Morning Show host Greg Horne asked Luey why he and the other members of BPA keep coming back.

Horne mentioned that he had seen a recent ad from a major airline trying to recruit pilots and Johnson responded this way.

Weekend events include pilot proficiency, flour bomb dropping, a balloon burst and spot landing competition. An awards banquet is scheduled Sunday at the Pine Bluff Convention Center and pilots will begin leaving Pine Bluff Monday.
