Two committees of the Pine Bluff City Council have worked together to sponsor a “free dump and disposal day” so that residents can get rid of unwanted furniture, appliances, carpet and other.

The Public Health and Welfare Committee, with Council Member Steven Shaner as Chairman, and the Public Works Committee, with Council Member Ivan Whitfield as chairman have put together the event which will take place at Hestand Stadium from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7.

Items that will be accepted include couches and sofas, chair desks. Filing cabinets, headboards, recliners, tables, box springs and mattresses, carpet, drywall and scrap metal.

Items that will not be accepted include electronics, batteries, hazardous waste, Liquid and industrial waste, waste sewage/sludge/tires, dirt and soil and medical waste.
