Unlike the federal system where judges are appointed and serve life terms, judges in Arkansas, from the Supreme Court on down are elected.

On Wednesday, Circuit Judge Rob Wyatt was a guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show and was asked about that.

Wyatt, who is the administrative judge for the district said the election for the six circuit judges are staggered, four of the six runs at once, the other two run at a later time. The three district judges, two in Jefferson County and one in Lincoln County, serve four-year terms and they are all elected at the same time.

Morning show host Greg Horne asked Wyatt if he thought the current system is better than the federal system, or is it worse, or is it both good and bad?

Horne then told Wyatt he had been to some recent events and was surprised that he did not seek Wyatt there, and assumed the absence was because of legal issues.
