Kurt Davis, Executive Vice President of Affiliate Relations for CBS News, will visit the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) on Tuesday, September 11. The free, public event will be held at 1:00 p.m. in Cross-Phipps auditorium of Caldwell Hall.

Davis is the speaker for the Fall Lecture Series hosted by the Department of Multimedia Communications at UAPB. In his role at CBS, Davis oversees the relationships between the network and the 210 stations that broadcast the network’s news programming. He is quite familiar with Arkansas, having spent several years as the assistant news director at KATV-TV.

“I’m looking forward to coming home and sharing words of wisdom on my experiences since leaving Arkansas,” Davis said.

This will be the first event hosted under the newly formed department at UAPB. In May, the University of Arkansas system approved the establishment of the department as an entity separate from the English and Theatre Department and supported its recognition as an extension of the University’s commitment to providing a communications curriculum that reflects the transformative impact of technology on media.

“We want our students to have opportunities to meet and network with industry executives,” said Dr. Ann White, interim director of the Multimedia Communications department. “Mr. Davis is one of the prominent news influencers in the industry, and it is an honor for him to visit our campus.”

Davis will tour the University and visit with students before and after the lecture.
