A $5,000 cash only bond was set Thursday for a Jefferson Count man previously convicted of misdemeanor domestic battery after he was arrested on a similar allegation Tuesday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jermiah Young, 29, with second offense third-degree battery, a felony.

Deputy Prosecutor Joe West said Young was arrested after police responded to a reported domestic incident on West Windham Street in the Dollarway area.

The alleged victim told police that Young had shoved her son and she got involved and was injured. When Young was interviewed, he denied the allegation.

West said Young was previously convicted of domestic battery in 2022 and is currently on probation on two felony cases. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court March 20.
