At its most recent meeting, the Pine Bluff City Council voted down a proposed ordinance that would have regulated the number of small box stores, commonly called Dollar Stores in the city.

Five votes were necessary to adopt the ordinance, which was on its third and final reading.

The opposition was led by Council Member Glen Brown Sr., who is seeking another term and is facing William Fells in the April 2 runoff.

Appearing on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show Monday, Brown talked about the legislation.

There are currently four dollar stores within a five-block radius on East Harding Avenue but  one of them is closing.
