There has been a lot of debate about the need for a new Pine Bluff High School. That debate started before the state took over the district and has continued ever since.

With the state appointing a limited authority board and naming Jennifer Barbaree as Superintendent the debate has picked up and it appears now that a decision has been made to locate a new school on the site of the former school on Olive Street.

On Thursday, Barbaree was a guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show and talked about that.

She said that the district has received what she described as “space replacement money” for the new school.

She said the projected cost doubled because of COVID and inflation.

Barbaree went on to explain that while money for the Pine Bluff district project was capped at $12 million, three districts, including the Watson Chapel District received an increase and explained why.
