A $5,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man who fought with a police officer who was attempting to arrest him.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Daniel Benton, 36, with second-degree battery.
Reading from an affidavit by Detective Shaun Watson, Deputy Prosecutor Ty Spradlin said on Friday, police were sent to the Seasons Apartments at 301 W. 33rd in response to a reported disturbance.
The officer made contact with Benton who appeared under the influence of something and tried to keep him calm until backup arrived.
After a struggle, officers were finally able to handcuff Benton.
He was told to come back to court May 18.
