Runoff elections held Tuesday across the Deltaplex region resulted in multiple leadership changes, with new county judges elected in three counties and a new circuit/county clerk chosen in another.
Jefferson County
Jefferson County voters elected a new county judge, as Attorney Efrem Neely defeated incumbent County Judge Gerald Robinson in a decisive victory. Neely received 3,616 votes to Robinson’s 1,241.
Neely will now move on to face Col. Nate Todd in the November’s general election.
In another Jefferson County race, Jackie Tillman unseated District 1 Justice of the Peace Alfred Carroll. Tillman secured 273 votes, while Carroll received 168.
Cleveland County
In Cleveland County, Jim Houston was elected county judge after defeating Stephen McClellan. Houston received 568 votes to McClellan’s 438.
Lincoln County
Lincoln County also saw a change in leadership, with John Powell unseating incumbent County Judge Buddy Lynn Earnest. Powell earned 417 votes, while Earnest received 373.
Powell will now face Independent candidate Randy Morgan in the November general election.
Grant County
In Grant County, Jacob Palmer was elected circuit/county clerk, defeating Stefannie Pruitt. Palmer received 806 votes compared to Pruitt’s 667.
