A White Hall High School student has been selected to attend a prestigious national program for future medical professionals.
Elizabeth Turner, a 10th grader at White Hall High School, has been chosen as a delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders, scheduled for June 24-26, 2026, at the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus near Boston.
The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students who aspire to become physicians or pursue careers in medical research. The event is designed to recognize and guide top students across the country by providing mentorship, resources and insight into medical careers.
Turner was nominated based on her academic achievement, leadership potential and commitment to serving others in the field of medicine. Her nomination was signed by Dr. Mario Capecchi, a Nobel Prize winner in medicine and science director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.
During the three-day event, Turner will join students from across the nation to hear from Nobel Laureates and National Medal of Science recipients, receive guidance from leaders of top medical schools and learn about advancements in medicine and medical technology.
The program also includes opportunities to hear from patients, interact with fellow high-achieving students and gain insight into the path toward medical school and careers in health care.
The National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists, which sponsors the program, is a nonprofit organization focused on identifying and mentoring students interested in careers in medicine and medical science.
