FDA Announces Recall of Children’s Ibuprofen Over Contamination Concerns

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced a nationwide recall of certain children’s ibuprofen products after reports of contamination.

According to the FDA, Strides Pharma Inc. is recalling 89,592 bottles of Children’s Ibuprofen Oral Suspension due to complaints of a gel-like substance and black particles found in the medication.

The recalled product is labeled as Children’s Ibuprofen Oral Suspension, USP, 100 mg per 5 mL, in 4-fluid-ounce (120 mL) bottles. The medication was manufactured for Taro Pharmaceuticals USA Inc. and distributed across the country.

Officials said the affected products carry lot numbers 7261973A and 7261974A, with an expiration date of Jan. 31, 2027.

The FDA has classified the recall as Class II, indicating that use of the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled medication are advised to stop using it and consult a healthcare provider if they have concerns.
