Ongoing concerns over the condition of county roads in Jefferson County continue to be a point of contention between County Judge Gerald Robinson and several members of the Quorum Court.
The issue resurfaced during Monday night’s meeting, where a proposal related to road funding was once again voted down by a majority of the justices.
Following the meeting, Floyd Donald spoke with Justice Reginald Johnson about the decision. Johnson said it is still early in the year and that additional funding should not be appropriated at this time, noting that the county judge already operates within a set budget.
County Judge Gerald Robinson responded, saying Johnson “is full of it.”
A majority of justices also voted against reappointing Robinson’s wife, Joni Alexander, to the Jefferson County Economic Board, a nonpaid position. Justice Patricia Royal-Johnson shared her thoughts on the decision.
