Pine Bluff City Council Approves Police Bonus Policy, New City Seal, and Boundary Updates

The Pine Bluff City Council approved several ordinances and resolutions during its meeting Monday night, including a measure establishing new rules for sign-on bonuses offered to new hires in the Pine Bluff Police Department.

Under the new policy, officers who receive a sign-on bonus will be required to repay a portion of the funds if they do not remain employed with the city for at least two years.

Councilmember Glen Brown Jr. spoke with Deltaplex News about the changes.

The council also approved a contract with One Stop Tech Solutions to provide technical consulting services for the city. Brown Jr. explained the role the company will serve moving forward.

The council also approved a resolution allowing Mayor Vivian Flowers to adopt a new official seal for the City of Pine Bluff and to retire the current seal within the next 12 months. Funding for the change will come from the mayor’s special projects fund.

Brown Jr. also shared his thoughts on the new seal.

The council also approved a resolution authorizing the mayor to take steps to verify and confirm city boundaries with White Hall and to mark those boundaries with appropriate signage at regular intervals.

In addition, the council approved a resolution allowing Animal Control and Pine Bluff Transit to dispose of outdated records, along with a budget adjustment allocating funds to the city cemetery.

All ordinances and resolutions were passed unanimously.
