Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas will partner with the University of Arkansas at Monticello to expand access to affordable four-year degrees in eastern Arkansas.
Leaders from both institutions will formally announce the collaboration Wednesday, March 11, during an event scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Hendrix Fine Arts Center on the PCCUA Helena campus.
The new partnership will allow students to complete select bachelor’s degrees through UAM while remaining on PCCUA campuses, creating what officials describe as a “start here and finish here” model for students in the Delta and surrounding communities.
Beginning in May 2026, PCCUA students will have the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in K-6 elementary education. A Bachelor of Business Administration degree is expected to launch in August 2026. Both programs are pending approval from the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Higher Learning Commission.
Officials say the initiative is designed to increase access to four-year degrees, strengthen workforce development and provide a seamless transition for students seeking to continue their education close to home. By combining institutional resources and academic expertise, PCCUA and UAM aim to improve degree completion rates while maintaining affordable tuition options.
The March 11 announcement is open to the public and media. Leaders from both universities are expected to provide additional details about the partnership. Interview, photo and video opportunities will be available.
