As the new year begins, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is highlighting the work and accomplishments of its deputies during 2025, pointing to thousands of calls answered, miles patrolled and enforcement actions taken across the county.
According to agency-wide statistics, deputies patrolled 331,100 miles in 2025 while responding to 7,579 calls for service and completing 792 incident reports. Deputies also investigated 162 traffic accidents during the year.
In the course of daily operations, the department used 27,465.37 gallons of fuel at a cost of $71,604.51. Monthly maintenance costs totaled $54,784.10.
Enforcement efforts included 2,939 traffic stops and 1,551 patrol division citations. Deputies issued 17 DWI citations and seven public intoxication citations. Additional citations included 214 for driving on a suspended license, 314 for no insurance and 431 for speeding violations.
Deputies also conducted 14,527 security checks countywide, making it the top enforcement category by volume in 2025.
Total fine revenue for the year reached $504,020. The top three offenses by revenue were no proof of insurance at $110,160, driving on a suspended license at $64,680 and speeding 16–25 mph over the limit at $64,170.
Sheriff’s officials said the numbers reflect long hours and proactive policing efforts aimed at maintaining public safety throughout Jefferson County.
“These numbers represent long hours, proactive enforcement and a continued commitment to keeping our community safe,” the agency said in a statement. “Every call answered and every mile driven reflects our deputies’ dedication to service.”
The department also recognized Deputy Blunt as the 2025 Deputy of the Year. According to the sheriff’s office, Deputy Blunt earned the honor for having the highest combined total of citations, arrests and reports, along with a high score in the agency’s enforcement productivity matrix.
