Two people were killed Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 46 in Grant County, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.
The crash occurred at 2:52 p.m. Feb. 26 on Highway 46 near Sheridan.
According to the report, a 2005 Chevy Impala was traveling southbound when it left the roadway, struck a tree and then hit a concrete culvert retaining wall.
The driver, Shannon Shane Stone, 51, of Leola, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, Lisa Kay Handley, 49, of Leola, also was killed in the crash.
Authorities reported that weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash.
No other injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.
