Arkansas State Police arrested two suspects Thursday morning following a vehicle pursuit in Jefferson County that resulted in the recovery of a felony amount of narcotics and a modified firearm.
According to ASP, troopers attempted to stop a vehicle shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 26 after it fled from North Hutchinson Street onto Dollarway Road.
The pursuit ended at a Dollar General store on North Haley Street, where passengers exited the vehicle and ran inside the business. With assistance from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement quickly apprehended the suspects.
Troopers arrested Aliyah Long, 20, of Pine Bluff, and John Moya Jr., 19, of Monticello. Authorities said Moya has active felony warrants. The driver of the vehicle remains at large.
During the investigation, troopers recovered a modified 20-gauge shotgun that had been thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit. Investigators also seized approximately 19.6 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and ammunition.
Both Long and Moya are facing charges that include felony fleeing, simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, and felony tampering with physical evidence.
The investigation remains ongoing.
