Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident as a homicide after a pedestrian was struck and killed Saturday night.
According to a press release from the Pine Bluff Police Department, officers responded around 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 to the intersection of 21st Avenue and Olive Street in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they found 68-year-old Oscar Moore unresponsive in the roadway on Olive Street. Investigators said Moore had apparently been struck by a vehicle and was lying in the street when officers reached the scene.
Moore was pronounced dead by a Jefferson County deputy coroner.
Police said the driver involved in the collision left the scene. The case, initially reported as a hit-and-run, is now being investigated as a homicide.
The investigation remains in its early stages, and no additional information has been released.
