The Fordyce Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning during a private gathering, leaving one man dead and a suspect still at large.
According to police, officers were dispatched to reports of a shooting around 3:00 a.m. at a residence where a 40th birthday celebration was taking place. When officers arrived on scene, they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was later identified as Jerron Lucus Sr. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the suspect fled before officers arrived. No description of the suspect or details regarding a possible motive have been released, as the investigation remains ongoing.
