Communities across the Deltaplex are continuing to deal with lingering issues caused by last weekend’s winter storm, with school closures remaining one of the most significant challenges.
Every school district within the Deltaplex News coverage area has missed classes throughout the entire week, and several districts are still uncertain about when students will be able to safely return to classrooms.
Pine Bluff School District Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Barbaree spoke with Deltaplex News on Friday morning about the steps the district is taking to prepare for the safe return of students and staff.
Barbaree said the Pine Bluff School District will wait until Sunday to determine whether classes will be held Monday, noting that current road conditions remain a concern and that prospects for a return to school do not look favorable at this time.
She added what the determining factors will be when the decision is made.
Barbaree also outlined how the Pine Bluff School District plans to make up the instructional days missed due to the winter weather.
